I haven't done this in a while, so bear with me. Here are some of the best and not-so-best new music releases of the week...
Ariana Grande - "No Tears Left To Cry" (9.5/10)
I actually can't stop listening to Ariana's latest. I can't believe how much of an earworm "No Tears Left To Cry" turned out to be. Tis the season for an introspective bop.
Liam Payne, J Balvin - "Familiar" (6/10)
I get and appreciate what Liam and J Balvin are doing on "Familiar". The repetition in the chorus is a good play, however "Familiar" doesn't take you to the same place as a "Wild Things" or even an "I Like It" a la Cardi B.
Billie Eilish, Khalid - "lovely" (7/10)
Good harmonies here. Love Billie and Khalid.
Janelle Monáe - "I Like That" (9.5/10)
Janelle is on a roll this year. Everything she's put out has been completely iconic. From the music to the visuals, she's setting the bar very high.
Janelle's fantastic vocals and that stuttering trap beat are absolutely addicting on "I Like That".
