If you’re anything like me, you can always get down to a good ol’ fashioned r&b rework. Alternative artists covering r&b tracks will always be a good idea and I don’t care what anyone says. Xavier Dunn’s take on A$AP Rocky’s ‘Fuckin’ Problem’ is a personal favourite of mine but imagine my surprise when something came along by the same artist to rival that gem.
Xavier Dunn’s Rae Sremmurd cover of “No Type” is exceptional. It’s calm, measured, and doesn’t try at all to be something it’s not. The cover is even more exceptional when you factor in a remix from famed German act, Hitimpulse. It’s the type of remix that builds upon itself in an unobtrusive way, casually ebbing and flowing with Hitimpulse’s flourishes. It’s a summer BBQ jam for sure.
I’ve got this on repeat for sure.
