SSLYBY have quite a body of work behind them. Over 10 years and 14 releases later, SSLYBY doesn’t in the least bit feel uninspired. Songs like “Line on You”, “Trevor Forever”, and “Foreign Future” feel slightly dated, but in the best way possible. Charming, nostalgic, and well executed, they’re reminiscent of a style of song perfected over a decade ago.
The High Country is a treat from start to finish. It’s the Breeders meets Belle and Sebastian meets Sonic Youth meets The Joy Formidable. Everything about this release feels authentic and well thought out. If you get a moment, do yourself a favour and grab a copy from the Polyvinyl store.
