September is gearing up to be a pretty decent month of music releases. Just about every album you’ve been waiting for all year will be enjoying a healthy September release, putting an end to 9 months of eager anticipation. Ignoring this blatant attempt at worming their way onto our end of the year favs list, there are a couple of names on this list whose newest releases I am actually so psyched for.
Obviously Mercury prize winners Alt-J have something to prove this year with their newest record. We’ve heard a steady stream of new material coming out of #campaltj as well as surprising news stories about their departed bassist (the split was amicable I’m told). It’s going to be really interesting to hear how a band so rooted in unique rhythm sections will fare without their bassist, but I’m betting they will land on their feet with This Is All Yours.
Karen O is one of my personal favourites. I’m obviously a massive Yeah Yeah Yeahs fan and I think Karen O + YYY / Karen O + Spike Jonze / Karen O + Karen O is a recipe for genius. I listened to Trapt which sounds decent to me and I can’t actually wait for the official release of Crush Songs.
I’ve actually heard the new Generationals album Alix through their label and I can confirm it’s brilliant. It’s different to their older stuff but in a good way. Would definitely recommend it to everyone next month.
Next month is going to be jam packed in terms of music releases. Anything you’ve got your eyes (or should I say ears) on this September?
