Podcast Club: A New Fave - "See Something Say Something"
These are dark times. No, seriously. Looking at Europe and United States, things with democracy are shaky at best. While I'm totally in favor of finding tangible ways to resist fascism and tyranny, I'm also a huge fan of learning from people who have different life experiences than myself.
Anyone who knows me knows I love podcasts. I've got about 10ish podcast on a weekly rotation (some every day, some twice a week, some once a week) so I wanted to share a new podcast called "See Something Say Something".
So, SSSS is hosted by Ahmed Ali Akbar, a writer at Buzzfeed who explains right off the bat that this isn't a podcast that speaks for Muslim people. That idea is even in the name. 'See Something Say Something' acts as an ironic use of an unofficial mandate for those within the America Muslim community to be held accountable for watching and reporting on one another. Peak Bush era trash.
If you're a fan of Another Round, Buzzfeed's weekly pop culture romp with Heben and Tracey, you'll definitely like See something Say Something.
See Something Say Something is a well-positioned, funny, and sometimes dark look at popular culture and the media as told by American Muslims (and sometimes not told by American Muslims).
If you're a fan of smart, funny, and very real takes from brilliant voices, take a second to check out See Something Say Something.
