This Week's New Music: RATED

“Perfect Illusion” - Lady Gaga ( 7.5/10)

Lady Gaga’s come back single has people seriously divided but I think it’s a really solid lead single. Firstly, she’s having a serious disco moment in the chorus which I can get behind. The lyrics are a bit rubbish but Gaga’s lyrics have always been a bit nonsensical, haven’t they?

”Influence” - Tove Lo ft. Wiz Khalifa (9/10)

I’m not usually a Wiz Khalifa fan but I’ve got to give credit where credit is due. Tove Lo is quietly establishing herself as a brilliant emerging talent rising among the ranks of Scandinavian talents (Zara Larsson, MØ, Dagny).

“Waste A Moment” - Kings Of Leon (6/10)

Solid comeback for Kings of Leon. Nothing particularly groundbreaking is going on here but the song sounds good. Very “coming of age” film trailer circa 2009. But, saying that, there is a whole album on its way so it could very well be the start of a very successful album roll out.

“Deja Vu” - Post Malone (5/10)

I want to like this and I want to like Post Malone. But this is just problematic. Bieber isn’t nearly pulling his weight vocally to warrant a feature. In fact, Malone’s vocals are almost certainly stronger that JB’s on this one. Secondly “Hotline Bling” came out like one calendar year ago. This is just so problematic. I don’t know why Bieber hopped on this and I don’t know why Post Malone put it out. Mess.

"Electrify” - Oliver (9/10)

Really solid 80s inspired synth pop. Real big fan of this.
