Best of 2015

I was meant to get my "end of years" up earlier than this but you know how it goes. When you suck, you just suck.

2015 has been a pretty great year for pop music. I also consider 2015 the year I properly fell back in love with pop. Working at Popbuzz, (the clue is in the name, you see) under the influence of a lot of great music journalists and aficionados has definitely reminded me how great pop music can be.

This year we've had new music from Bieber, Drake, Kendrick Lamar and others. Whether you had your eye on the pop scene or have only been a casual observer, there's no getting around the fact that pop kind of won this year.

One of my favourite things to come out of 2015 was Bieber's return to prominence. I wouldn't call myself a massive Bieber fan but I can't lie. I was really excited for the comeback. The album itself was a bit of a let down but the singles, so far, have been SO solid. I just want a Bieber/Skrillex album of collaborations.

Then there was the fact that Drake had an out of control positive year. He released IYRTITL, cosied up to Apple, won the wackest feud of all time, and went out with Serena Williams for a spell. Not to mention his glo up has been...legendary.

Now, I'm really liberal about what I've included on this list. I know it says "best of pop" but I've got some hip hop, rap, and alt on the list. Basically, my definition of "pop" is that, if it lives in the mainstream, it's pop.

I also couldn't include everything I like because I liked a lot of music. This is mainly the stuff that I had on repeat all year and recently and that had really strong pop "elements". So, essentially massive hooks, big choruses, belters. Essentially, it's bangers only.

The list is in no particular order, although it starts with Drake so make of that what you will. If you feel like I've left anything MAJOR out, I'm inviting you to @ me on Twitter: @adulthumanbeing and tell me what's good.
