On Friday I had the chance to see Leon Bridges at The Notting Hill Arts club. I don’t usually make my way down that part of London but I trekked over to see Leon and his band play live.
I’ve been following the Fort Worth Texas native for a long while now. Last year I called him “one to watch” and it looks like I wasn’t wrong. His refreshingly old school style is an interesting contrast with the modernity of his fan base and his contemporaries, of course.
The event was organised by Amazon Music and was super intimate (and very very hot) . Leon played an hour long set with a full band and, because the space was so intimate, the room was absolutely filled with his music. I was genuinely taken aback by how full the sound was live.
Leon is such an incredible performer. Afterward, he posed for photos with fans and the rest of his band mingled with fans and jounalists as well.
It was a refreshing departure from performers who are scooped away by their management as soon as they’re done with a show. I would 100% recommend catching Leon live as well as picking up a copy of his debut album Coming Home.
