In preparation for their new album, This is All Yours, Alt-J have released their first single 'Hunger of the Pine'. On first listen, the track is jazzy, post modern, and skeletal when compared to An Awesome Wave. The jury is still out on whether the Miley Cyrus sample is totally necessary but it's an interesting sound from the Mercury prize winners. Alt-J is down a bassist and it shows but I'm eager to hear how trio handled the absence of one of the strongest elements from their debut album. This is All Yours is due out Sept 22.
